Lolo Jones, champion of the USA and World hurdle championships has achieved this title after a long period of hard work and incredible endurance. Jones had a difficult childhood due to her being the sole child of a mother within a large household. She lived with her mom in a basement church and was always on the go. Jones, who lived a nomadic and mobile life up until she enrolled in the high school system, was required the option of moving to a new school every year. In Theodore Roosevelt High School, Jones resided apart from her mother to pursue her interest in the track and field events. Jones was a resident of four residences during her high school years in order to study at one location. Jones won the Gatorade track and field Athlete-of-the Award at the high school level.
